As John Gardner famously noted, “One of the reasons mature people stop learning is that they become less and less willing to risk failure.”
What do faculty look like when they are trying something new? How is that experience internalized by the faculty in the work of learning and teaching? What prevents us from innovation in the classroom?
I gave a talk to a group of faculty in 2009 and asked those same questions. This presentation revisits that presentation in the context of the work of educators 10 years further down the road.
